Waste Management's ALLIANCE LANDFILL is a municipal
solid waste landfill operating under the strict regulations
of the Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection
(PADEP) and the US Environmental Protection Agency. It began
operating as a modern, lined and capped landfill in 1987.
The landfill is permitted to accept non-hazardous household,
commercial and industrial waste, including special wastes.
Alliance does not accept infectious, hazardous, radioactive,
unprocessed medical, or liquid wastes.
To ensure environmental protection, Alliance Landfill is constructed with a double-liner system that exceeds state regulatory specifications. The liner system is equipped with a wastewater collection system. In addition, an extensive gas collection system removes landfill gas that is produced by the decomposition of the waste.
